Lacons: A Case Study

With a history dating back to 1760, Lacons is a name synonymous with brewing in East Anglia. Returning after a 45 year hiatus in 2013, Lacons have gone on to being recognised both locally and nationally whilst winning many awards for their beers.

In December 2016 we launched Lacons Brewery's new website to clarify their brand position, modernise the design and implement much-needed functionality.

The Brief

Lacons wanted a new website to clarify their brand position, merge their existing trade and beer websites, all whilst emphasising their rich history.

Every feature was to be made customisable by CMS, with an online store and a design which reflected their current brand and heritage.

With a timescale of just 6 weeks, Ocean Road Media took on the challenge of designing and developing this fully responsive website in Wordpress ready for a pre-christmas launch.

How we did it

With almost 40 pages, we knew that user experience would be hugely important in the design. We built the navigation and call-to-actions to work seamlessly across all devices ensuring all content could be found easily by Lacons target audience.

We built the online store using WooCommerce. With a bespoke WooCommerce theme to ensure the shop was on-brand and packed with features such as sales reports and the ability to see which users have abandoned their baskets.

The website is fully responsive for every possible device size, meaning it will work perfectly on devices that don't even exist yet. With parallax pages showcasing Lacons rich heritage and the quality of their ingredients, we delivered a fully customisable website with Wordpress CMS in a very short timescale!

“I like that Ocean Road took a lot of care to really understand us as a brand, and help us figure out exactly what we were trying to achieve. I can honestly say they were invaluable. Even with our tight deadlines, they nailed it, and the results speak for themselves”
